![]() It changes how you play, and gives you something to work towards. ![]() I totally recommend it if you think it might be a fun challenge. DCSS actually has a page on, but there has to be a community of people speedrunning a game to make getting a page worth it. As far as real-time runs, I think they would have to be recorded and put up on youtube in order to be considered official. I think my next challenge will be to try to get the highest score. My understanding of the other runs is that they are by skilled players who just happened to get very fast wins. To be clear, I think that I am the only person that has intentionally tried to speedrun the game. ![]() My own record for this mode is this game at 1,427 turns: The previous lowest turncount for this challenge had been 2,368 by ster. Sil-q also has a challenge mode called the 50,000XP Challenge, where you start the game with 50,000 XP but don't get any more during the game. After working on lowering my turncount for some months, I got this game at 2,374 turns: The lowest turncount game of Sil-q was previously 4,785 turns by Filubu. It's possible, of course, that someone has beaten my scores but never posted about it. DCSS is especially well set up for this because games played online are automatically recorded and these sorts of records show up on a unified page.įor Angband/variants we have the angband.oook ladder, which is how I've been tracking these records. No problem! I have seen other roguelike communities keep records of things like fastest real-time win, lowest turncount win, or highest score.
